Do you often feel that other versions of OpenWrt or iStore are unstable and unsafe?
And you don't want to give up on the software store? Even the speed might not be fully utilized?
The router is an important channel to the internet, and if you don't want to hand it over to commercial companies, try the open-source and free OpenWrt derivative versions. These alternative firmwares guarantee functionality and stability, with the last one being closed-source and highly recommended.

ImmoralWrt#
ImmoralWrt is currently mainly contributed by @天灵 and is modified based on the OpenWrt mainline, meeting your various software expectations and supporting the installation of Kmod kernel modules.
It has exclusive application plugins, supports a wide variety of devices and plugins, and the software is relatively new (firewall4). You can use the acceleration provided by the Peking University Open Source Mirror Site, support the ImmortalWrt firmware selector to build custom firmware, and it supports most hardware on the market, as well as self-compilation.
- Online build: ImmortalWrt Firmware Selector
Disadvantages: Troubleshooting can be relatively cumbersome for beginners, and the 23 version based on the OpenWrt mainline can be sluggish on low-end models.
CatWrt#
CatWrt is a reissued version by @miaoermua, based on Lean's LEDE with simple custom modifications. Users can audit the open-source code of CatWrt and build their own software sources, supporting the installation of Kmod kernel modules in the software source.
Under certain conditions, it provides a system environment that balances stability and performance, responding quickly on low-end models. It offers customized problem guidance and has blogs and video tutorials to explore usage.
Disadvantages: Only provides support for popular models and cannot offer support beyond the provided list.
QWRT#
QWRT is based on the closed-source Lean's LEDE and is managed by @Lean and his team, who have many years of OpenWrt experience. It relies on the ImmoralWrt software source to install plugins, has exclusive application plugins, supports most hardware, and provides Qualcomm's closed-source QSDK and MTK SDK, making it the most performant firmware.
- Public version: lean's post | Enshan Wireless Forum
- Paid version UBOOT: coolsnowwolf | Bread More
- VIP QWRT requires payment to Lean, who will add you to the VIP group and firmware group.
Disadvantages: Requires payment for support to achieve performance from closed-source, cannot install Kmod modules separately.
